The Kingmaker's Daughter: Cousins' War Bk 4 ~ Philippa Gregory

narrated by Bianca Amato  (4.5)
Historical fiction   (Northumberland (relating to the house of Neville   / North Yorkshire/ Kent / London / Warwickshire / Dorset / Gloucestershire / (Berkhamsted Castle) Hertfordshire / (Ludlow Castle) Shropshire / York / Durham Somerset / Nottinghamshire )

The storyline was riveting, though it did start to drag on a bit towards the end of the story as, sadly, Anne became less and less likeable.  Her sister Isabel, another pawn in the games of Royal intrigue,  was pretty easy to dislike through much of the book.  Philippa Gregory is faithful to record all the intermarrying between cousins and, potentially, an Uncle and a niece (meh) along with "mistress gathering" that went on in the royal circles of that era (mid to late 1400’s).

Extra: Some sensual content, along with two loveless wedding nights; all are referred to euphemistically and shared with lighter pen strokes.  Details a really brutal birthing which ends in a stillborn babe.  Includes a sacrificial killing of a beloved horse. All are smaller portions that would be easier to bypass in a printed story.
